MA 02 District was started in 1999. It has grown and expanded into other Districts 2 times. 1st in 2003 with the growth of a New District in Rhode Island and then in 2007 there was more growth into CT. Both these districts started with MA02 and now run with there own growing members. Our district covers Central and Western Massachusetts. Shows & events are held in MA, CT and RI. Our events are run, using computerized record/score keeping and Farmtek laser timers.
Our district has a reputation for consistently putting on shows that are fair for all riders, in accordance with all NBHA rules, run efficiently, held in safe arenas with good ground, and fun for everyone.
Our district hosts between 12 and 15 NBHA sanctioned shows each year, and also participates in the MA/CT State Championships held in Oneco, Ct. We pride ourselves on great year-end awards, buckles, trophy sturips, breast collars, trophy fenders and other quality tack.
We encourage our members to be involved with our district, through meetings where district rules are voted upon, fundraising, volunteering to work at shows, and promoting the NBHA.
In 2006, 32 NBHA riders from the New England placed at the NBHA Colonial Nationals and World Championships! We have riders from districts with 25 members placing at NBHA Nationals and Worlds! Just good riders and good horses. The New England NBHA members are a great, hard working, tough riding group.
The National Barrel Horse Association, headquartered in Augusta, Georgia, is the largest barrel racing organization in the world. In 1992, the NBHA revolutionized the barrel racing industry by pioneering the divisional format, which allows riders of all skill levels a chance to win money and prizes in barrel racing competition.
NBHA has over 23,000 members of all ages across the United States and affiliates in five countries: Canada, Italy, France, Panama and the Netherlands.
NBHA official home office events to date have paid out $8,038,985.00. Added money is approaching $2 million.
Divisional barrel racing, using the 4D format, is the heart of NBHA. Divisional barrel racing gives ALL competitors - from beginners to professionals, from youth to seniors - a chance to compete, learn and succeed in barrel racing. The Divisional format encourages riders to improve their skills and work toward the higher Divisions, while still having a chance to be competitive.
NBHA Members compete at District, State, National and World Championship levels. Each state is divided into competition Districts where members compete for money and prizes at a local level.
The ultimate goal of NBHA competition is to qualify for the prestigious NBHA World Championships: The Youth & Teen World Championships, held the first week of August, and the Open & Senior World Championships are held in November annually.
Whether you're an experienced rodeo rider, a top futurity trainer, a weekend jackpot competitor or a beginning barrel racer, NBHA is right for you!
